tell a friend about the speed of XHT
although i haven’t clocked the download speed of the filetypeXHT pages used on the main areas of the enhanceability.com domain web site, the pages seem to upload more quickly. and because the XHT doesn’t need to load the legacy markup processing that would be required by pre-XHTML markup, the XHT pages can load more quickly.
that is part of the vision for the use of the XHTML 1.1 and CSS plus filetypeXHT documents used on this web site.
i am excited about the potential of XHTML 1.1 and CSS plus filetypeXHT to increase the speed by which content can be downloaded, in addition to the potential to reduce the load on network servers. in addition, web developers can also take advantage of the improved extensibility of XML (and also CSS) when coding documents for XHTML.
what do you think about the potential for increased speed and for reduced network load? are you already preparing web documents that are up to best practice speed? if not then why not? with some careful planning you can put best practices to work for both your users and you.
